Edmonton Horseback Riding Lessons & Summer Camps

Just a quick note about today before I crash and head to bed!

What a perfect weekend!

The 2nd Annual AAHYA Halloween Penny Carnival was held Friday evening and while it wasn't as busy as last year, the kids had a blast!

Today, we held our first Halloween Fun show. With todays results, I think this must become an annual event. We had 32 competitors who participated in a variety of classes from pleasure and equitation, eyeball & spoon race and always a fan favorite, carrot trail. I have to say, this was the funnest fun show I have ever attended. The energy of the kids, parents and helpers was fantastic. The horses were all very well behaved and seemed to be (for the most part) enjoying their time as well. We had some awesome prizes donated by Tudor Tack & Greenhawk! They are definitely being enjoyed by all!

I think its so important for kids to start their experience with showing in this fun, light hearted way. Being responsible for your horse all day is so much different then just being responsible for the 2 hours you are at the barn for your lesson. The participants all learned how to monitor stall behavior, food & water intake, as well as barn cleanliness. It was a great learning experience. I'm so proud of how well each of them followed instructions and left the barn clean at the end of the day. You guys rock!

To all the parents who had cameras on hand - don't forget to send me your awesome photos so I can put a photo album up!

Lastly, Thank-you! To Tricia, Sue & Joy: without you the day would not have run so smoothly. To Craig, for fixing light switches and being our handyman for the day. To Gord & Colleen: for running our concession. To Tom: for the coffee! To Dad: for watching Jillian today. To Steve: for remembering to feed and water me! To all of you: Thank you for making this day so awesome, fun and one I will surely never forget. Your help, support, errands, organization all contributed to making today as wonderful as it was for everyone involved. Love you all!

Happy Birthday to me! :-)
